About
My name is Jeet Sukumaran. I am currently a PhD student at the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Kansas, under Dr. Mark Holder and Dr. Rafe Brown. I am working on developing and using computational methods to investigate historical phylogeographic questions and hypotheses within a statistical framework that integrates phylogenetic, geographical, and environmental evolution. I am applying these and existing methods to investigate the phylogeographical and recent biogeographical history of Southeast Asian reptiles and amphibians using empirical data.
As might be inferred from my work and other details, I spend a lot of time programming (mostly in Python, C/C++, and R). In addition, I am involved in web development on the side, as part of community outreach projects, and to this end I have written a number of dynamic database-driven websites using Python, one of which can be seen here.
Apart from this website, I also contribute to a blog on methods and issues in biogeography and phylogeography.
I have a passion for the wilderness and nature photograpy, and some of my photographs can be seen on my photography site.
Some of my publications are listed here.
My (more or less) current curriculum vitae is available for download here.
